We are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Roy Padayachie. We met him barely a week ago in Durban and he was well and in high spirits.
Roy was a committed servant of the people who worked tirelessly as a social and political activist. He made a significant contribution to government in his roles as Deputy Minister and Minister in the important portfolios of Communications and Public Service and Administration.
He was a true patriot who worked with unstinting vigour to bring change and improvement to the lives of our fellow South Africans. We salute him for his valuable contribution and his steadfast commitment to our nation’s struggle for democracy.
Our condolences go out to his wife Sally, his daughters and the extended Padayachie family. They are in our thoughts and prayers.
