Durban based film production and distribution company, Videovision Entertainment has continued its association with the Durban FilmMart, this time as the sponsor of the inaugural Best South African Project Award which is designed to support South African film projects that are presented at the FilmMart.
The winner of the Best South African Project Award announced last night is the film, This Boy from David Max Brown and Kyle Lewis, about a gangster in Cape Town who has a love for writing poetry however, he is falsely accused of murder and after being cleared of the charges, plans on a new life with his childhood sweetheart.
The Videovision Entertainment prize, valued at R75 000 which will go towards the print, advertising and marketing costs related to the release of the film. Additionally, Videovision Entertainment guarantees that the film will be distributed in South Africa. The objective of the award is to nurture and develop emerging South African filmmakers.
