2010 – Once In A Lifetime: The Movie which focuses on the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa had its World Premiere in Johannesburg last night with a number of dignitaries in attendance, including the Minister of Sport, Mr Fikile Mbalula who was Guest of Honour; CEO of the LOC, Dr Danny Jordaan, Chairman of the LOC, Dr Irvin Khoza; veteran activist, Mr Ahmed Kathrada; former ministers Dr Essop Pahad and Ms Barbara Hogan, the newly appointed Mayor of Johannesburg, Mr Parks Tau, former members of the LOC and a host of sports officials and people associated with the staging of the World Cup in South Africa. 2010 – Once In A Lifetime: The Movie which is co-produced by Videovision Entertainment and SuperSport, has Anant Singh and MultiChoice Group CEO, Imtiaz Patel as producers and award-winning director, Junaid Ahmed at the helm.
The film will have its television premiere on Friday, 10 June at 8.00pm on DSTV’s SuperSport 3 to mark the anniversary of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
2010 – Once In A Lifetime: The Movie, explores South Africa’s successful hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, integrating inspiring visuals, exhilarating music and compelling interviews with a range of people – from FIFA and LOC officials, government representatives, high profile personalities, celebrities and most importantly, the man in the street and is narrated by renowned international football commentator and Guinness World Record holder, John Helm. The film captures the passionate commitment and vision of South Africa and its people and the continent of Africa to the beautiful game. This film celebrates the spirit and the magic of a very unique FIFA World Cup – the first ever African World Cup.
Minister of Sport, Mr Fikile Mbalula raved about 2010 – Once In A Lifetime: The Movie saying, “It was fantastic ! It was out of this world, refreshing memories of a successful World Cup ! Imtiaz Patel said, “It all started when Anant and I were on a bus from one of the World Cup matches at Soccer City. We were so emotional and caught up in the excitement and we looked at each other and it was almost as though the thought entered our minds at the same time – that we had to capture this excitement and that’s where 2010 – Once In A Lifetime: The Movie was born. The film gives everyone an opportunity to relive the spirit of the World Cup as we look at the event a year later.”
