Sanjeev Singh, Director of Acquisitions and Distribution for Videovision Entertainment announced today of the acquisition of Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris prior to the film having its World Premiere as the Opening Film of the Cannes International Film Festival on Wednesday, 11 May.
The film, written and directed by Woody Allen, stars Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Michael Sheen, Lea Seydoux, and Carla Bruni.
Midnight In Paris is a romantic comedy about a family on a business trip in Paris. As a young couple engaged to be married experiences a profound transformation during their visit to Paris, an idealistic man with a romanticized view of the city finds that there is plenty of truth to that old adage about the grass being greener on the other side
Expected to attend the opening night at the world’s most prestigious film festival are Woody Allen, Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Adrien Brody, Michael Sheen and Lea Seydoux. There is also speculation that Carla Bruni will make a surprise appearance as well.
“We are delighted to have acquired yet another Woody Allen film. It’s a huge coup for us to have done so prior to its Cannes World Premiere and also because Midnight In Paris is hot property in Cannes, in view of it being selected to open the Festival,” said Sanjeev Singh.
Midnight In Paris will be released in South Africa later this year by Videovision Entertainment through United International Pictures (South Africa).
