Transporter 3, acquired for distribution in South Africa by Videovision Entertainment opened on Friday, 16 January 2009 and earned a massive R1 949 823 in only three days of its opening weekend while the previous Transporter films, Transporter 1 and Transporter 2 earned R3 913 768 and R 4 405 783 respectively for their entire runs at cinemas in South Africa. Directed by Olivier Megaton, Transporter 3 stars Jason Statham, Robert Knepper, Francois Berleand with Luc Besson as co-producer and co-writer with Robert Mark Kamen.
Transporter 3 tracks skilled driver, Frank Martin who is strong-armed into transporting the kidnapped daughter of the head of the Environmental Agency for the Ukraine from Marseilles to Odessa. In the process, he enlists the assistance of Inspector Tarconi in accomplishing the treacherous assignment in this action-packed instalment of the popular action series. Frank is not exactly thrilled with his latest assignment, but when his employer turns up the pressure, he has little choice but to deliver.
