Director: Business Affairs
Sudhir Pragjee qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1974 and was a partner at the auditing firm of Mahomedy & Manjee until 1988 when he joined Videovision Entertainment Group as a partner and Director of Business Affairs.
He is actively involved in all aspects of the business as well as key projects such as the development of Pearls of Umhlanga, Cape Town Film Studios and eThekwini Film City. Pragjee has also been the executive producer of over 80 feature films, the most notable being Sarafina!; Cry, The Beloved Country; the Oscar nominated Yesterday; Mr. Bones and Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and the recent production, Shepherds and Butchers.
His current and previous directorships include the Videovision Group of Companies, the Pearls of Umhlanga, Cape Town Film Studios, American Tower Corporation South Africa, Signature Cosmetics, Smile 90.4FM, eThekwini Film City, Kagiso Media, East Coast Radio (Chairman), OFM (Chairman), the Mail & Guardian, Universal Lace (Chairman) and NuField Squash Centre.
He is one of the founding Trustees and is Chairman of the non-profit organisation, “Into The Light Foundation” which has concluded in excess of 1,600 cataract operations from 2005 to date. The procedures are conducted on qualifying indigent patients at no cost.
Sudhir is actively involved in the Durban based cultural organisation, the Kendra of which he is a founding member. He continues to serve the Kendra on a number of committees. He was also part of the core team that conceptualised and successfully implemented the Retirement Home Project to completion.
